Michael Legat

Born: 1923

Based: Horsted Keynes, Sussex

Work Sought: Jeffrey has a lively interest in promoting theatre, especially with small groups. His published work represents only a small part of his range and he would be keen to work with any theatre group, large or small, with an interest in experimental and lively theatre. This applies particularly to the Wiltshire, Somerset or Dorset area. Enquiries would be welcome.

Theatrical Experience/Training:
Michael Legat has been an amateur actor for about sixty years, and has appeared in dozens of plays, usually in the lead. He has also directed frequently. The St Philip’s Players of Norbury, North Croydon, with whom he worked and of which he was the Chairman for many years, entered Drama Festivals regularly, and often walked away with the top award. He was one of the founders of the Norbury & Thornton Heath Drama Association, and during his chairmanship of that organisation played a major part in setting up the Croydon Full-Length Festival. Having moved to Sussex, he now acts and directs for the Ditchling Players. Michael has published five novels and seventeen non-fiction books. Among the latter is Putting on a Play, a guide for amdram societies.
