Theatrical Experience/Training:
Involved in theatre for twenty years, writing, directing, set design and acting with various companies. Ran drama workshops for local companies and at HM Prison (not an inside job). Radio plays and stories broadcast. Write to entertain and love interesting characters with lots of subtext. The plays have attracted increasingly able actors over the last few years, which is encouraging. All have been produced, by several companies, in various venues but premièred in Derby Playhouse Studio or Guildhall Theatre. All received favourable-to-excellent media reviews.
CHIANTI & CHIPS - “a story of human foibles and fallibility so real.” Ashley Franklin, Derby Evening Telegraph.
THE CURSE OF HALLOWS HALL “crackles with more wit, style and theatricality than many established plays.” A.F.
FAMILY BUTCHERS - A family of human vultures assemble for the reading of a will. “Described as a comedy it was more than that.” Margaret Beardsley, Belper News.
FEEDING THE SWANS - “Skilfully treads the tightrope between cruelty and comedy.” Sarah Julian (BBC Radio Derby)
HOUSE WARMING - “‘You know how it is... You invite everybody, and those you hope will come, can’t. And those you hope won’t, do.’ Is it funny? Yes. Cringe you may, but we’ve all met people like these.” Colston Crawford D.E.T.
KING LIAR - Can Nina convince Rick a marriage is not just for Christmas? “An admirable piece of theatre work.” Gordon Bewley, Theatre Reviewer.
MARATHON - “This mythical Grecian tale is presented as dry ribald satire. It’s a hoot.” Ashley Franklin. D.E.T.
RATS - 2084 AD. Those fortunate enough to have a job and/or dwelling, keep their heads down and live in fear. “An intelligent piece of work.” Andy Potter
