Theatrical Experience/Training:
Alan caught the Amdram bug back in 1969.
Since then he had been involved with over 120 productions with local
amateur theatre groups, dividing his time between directing, acting and
staging. He also works as stage director at local and regional drama
festivals and has appeared four times in the World-famous Edinburgh
Military Tattoo. His writing career began in 1973 when his first plays, Nicht
o' the Blunt Claymore, won the Scottish Community Drama Association
Full Length playwriting competition. He followed that by winning the
next year's SCDA One Act playwriting competition. Another six awards
followed, including the Scott Salver for best original play in the
British One Act Festival. His plays have enjoyed over 600 performances,
mainly in the U.K., but also in Holland, Australia, Canada, New Zealand
and South Africa.
