Theatrical Experience/Training:
Geoff Saunders is a graduate of King Alfred's College, Winchester, with
a degree in English and Drama. In London, he has worked as an actor and director at the Richmond Shakespeare Society and the Goodrich Theatre
in Putney (acting: includes roles in Three Sisters, Translations, PVT Wars, The Wizard of Oz and Poppy; directing: includes Long Day’s
Journey into Night, The Secret Rapture, Julius Caesar and Hard Times). He has also worked as an extra in To Serve Them All My Days (BBCTV) and
the films Staggered; Whispers; England, My England and Poker Face.
He has had six plays published: Other People, Watch My Lips, Manny's Party, Benny's Funeral, Starch and The Inaccurate Conception (the last
co-written with Richard Ahsam) and they have been performed by various companies in England (with productions at — among others — the Harlow
Playhouse, the Embassy Centre, Skegness and two at the King’s Head, Islington) Ireland, Wales, Germany and Queensland, Australia. The
newest, Starch, won the Joy Goun Award for Best Play in the Arundel Theatre Trail in 2005 and was performed by the Fluellen Theatre Company
at the Dylan Thomas Theatre, Swansea, with its companion piece Under The Rainbow in 2006. Hanging In There, a comedy about testicular cancer
in support of the Orchid Cancer Appeal, was performed at the Loft Theatre, Leamington Spa, in 2005 and at the Criterion Theatre,
Coventry, in 2006; it will receive its professional première at the Grand Theatre, Swansea, in September 2007 in a production by Fluellen.
In 2000, Geoff contributed the thirtysomethings, a “soap” story in 35
episodes, to The Independent’s website. He is an editor by profession,
editing plays and designing covers and advertising material for Samuel French Ltd.
